Obama vs. Fox News - really???

I try to stay away from becoming inflamed about politics, and in particular over politics involving petty fights, but this fight is just so asinine that I feel like I must speak out about it.  What topic am I talking about?  The topic I am talking about is the recent furor, reported at Fox News and via the Associated Press, that the White House has decided they should be the final arbiters of who may and may not be considered true "news" reporters.  But they are forgetting their roots. Read on for a deeper dive into the stupidity that is modern politics.

Life's Origins Spun in Favor of Single-Sided Worldviews

I find it rather humorous that the liberal, yet usually interesting Boing Boing is not below the sort of unintelligent analysis that they oftentimes like to criticize others in society for with one of today's stories titled: Against Ben Stein's wishes, lizards rapidly evolve after introduction to island. Linking a story from National Geographic about a merely interesting development of a certain lizard species to a recent movie (Ben Stein's Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed) which is about a completely different subject is laughable if it weren't such a serious problem in our society today.

Mahalo.com - A search engine, blog, or social networking?

I was fiddling with Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 yesterday and ran across a plugin to share links via Mahalo.com. So what is Mahalo.com?

Q: Is it a search engine? A: Sort of.
Q: Is it a social networking site? A: Sort of.
Q: Is it a place for blogging? A: Sort of.
Q: Is it a bookmarking site? A: Sort of.

Do you see the trend? I wonder if this site has enough traction to maintain and grow an audience, but so far it seems to have just that. Partially because it is "sort of" everything about Web 2.0 it allows different types of users to utilize it in the ways they want to utilize it.

For instance, I am posting to this blog from within a wrapper interface on Mahalo. It actually is pretty seemless, and doesn't seem to cause any hiccups in the process of posting to my blog.

Mass media critique

The New York Times is running an article today about the apparent hoopla in the blogosphere today over the poor questions posed to the Democratic Presidential candidates during the debate last night on ABC. The liberal media elitists like to claim that they are not elitist, but their own words betray them. Phrases such as this one in the article: "No disrespect to bloggers, but the issue has grown to the point where even big media names are weighing in via blog posts, too." say one thing - we do disrespect the average Joe Blogger.
