Mahalo.com - A search engine, blog, or social networking?
I was fiddling with Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 yesterday and ran across a plugin to share links via Mahalo.com. So what is Mahalo.com?
Q: Is it a search engine? A: Sort of.
Q: Is it a social networking site? A: Sort of.
Q: Is it a place for blogging? A: Sort of.
Q: Is it a bookmarking site? A: Sort of.
Do you see the trend? I wonder if this site has enough traction to maintain and grow an audience, but so far it seems to have just that. Partially because it is "sort of" everything about Web 2.0 it allows different types of users to utilize it in the ways they want to utilize it.
For instance, I am posting to this blog from within a wrapper interface on Mahalo. It actually is pretty seemless, and doesn't seem to cause any hiccups in the process of posting to my blog.
Of course, it's run by the somewhat obnoxious, but successful, Jason Calicanis, so whatever your feelings are towards his previous endeavors may influence what you think about Mahalo.com.
I think it is at least worth 15 minutes of your time to check out Mahalo.com though. If for no other reason than to be aware of the newest trends amongst the Nouveau technologique (the new technologists - think Nouveau riche), and what they are playing with on the web these days.
